Add a customizable announcement bar to the top of your BigCommerce storefront — promote sales, offers, free shipping, and more, with no coding required.

What is Top Banner?

Top Banner displays a clean, fully customizable announcement bar at the very top of every page of your storefront. You write and style your message in a simple editor with a live preview, click Save, and it appears on your store instantly. There’s nothing to code and no theme files to edit.

Typical uses: promotional sales, free-shipping thresholds, seasonal offers, product launches, important notices, and newsletter sign-ups.

Installing the app

From the BigCommerce App Marketplace, open the Top Banner listing and click Get this app / Install.
Review and approve the permissions the app requests, then confirm the installation.
When installation finishes, the app opens inside your BigCommerce control panel. You can return to it anytime from Apps › My Apps › Top Banner.

Top Banner includes a 30-day free trial with full functionality. You can build and publish banners during the trial with no payment required.

Creating your first banner

Open the app (Apps › My Apps › Top Banner).

Open the app (Apps › My Apps › Top Banner).
In the Message box on the left, type your announcement. You can make text bold, italic, underlined, add a link, or change its color. Keep it short — messages are limited to 250 characters.
Use the Design panel on the right to style and configure the bar (see the options below).
Watch the Live preview at the top update as you make changes. Use the Desktop / Mobile toggle to check both layouts.
Click Save banner. A confirmation appears below the button.
Open your storefront — the bar now appears at the top of every page.

Settings explained

Setting	What it does
Banner enabled	Turns the banner on or off on your storefront. Uncheck it to temporarily hide the bar without deleting your message or settings — then check it again whenever you’re ready.
Message	The text shoppers see. Supports bold, italic, underline, links, and text color (up to 250 characters).
Background & Text color	Pick colors that match your brand so the bar blends into your storefront.
Alignment	Aligns the message left, center, or right.
Font size	Choose 14, 16, 18, or 20 px.
Call to action (Button text + URL)	Adds a clickable button to the bar. Enter the button label and the link it should open. A button only appears when both a label and a URL are provided.
Make the whole bar clickable	Makes the entire bar a link to your call-to-action URL, so shoppers can click anywhere on it.
Dismissible	Shows a close (×) button so shoppers can hide the bar.
Re-show after (days)	How long the bar stays hidden after a shopper closes it, before it appears again. Set `0` to show it on every page.
Sticky	Pins the bar to the top of the screen so it stays visible as shoppers scroll.

Tip: If you enter a button URL without https://, the app adds it for you automatically.

Editing, pausing, or removing a banner

Edit: Reopen the app at any time — your saved banner loads automatically. Make changes and click Save banner; updates go live immediately.
Pause temporarily: Uncheck Banner enabled and save. The bar disappears from your storefront but your content is kept for later.
Remove entirely: Clear the message (or keep it disabled). You can re-enable or rewrite it whenever you like.

How it looks on mobile

On phones and small screens, long messages automatically wrap to multiple lines and the bar grows taller so the full text stays readable — nothing gets cut off.

Multiple storefronts

If your BigCommerce account uses multiple storefronts, Top Banner adds the announcement bar to each of your active storefronts automatically.

Free trial & subscription

You get a 30-day free trial with every feature unlocked. After the trial, the banner stops showing on your storefront until you subscribe — your saved banner and settings are preserved, so subscribing brings it right back.

Troubleshooting

The banner isn’t showing on my storefront

Make sure Banner enabled is checked and that the Message isn’t empty, then click Save banner.
Confirm your free trial hasn’t ended (or that your subscription is active).
If you closed the bar earlier, it will reappear after the number of days set in Re-show after. To see it right away, clear your browser’s site data or open the store in a new private/incognito window.

The Call-to-Action button isn’t working

The button (and “make the whole bar clickable”) require a Button URL. Add a URL, save, and refresh your storefront.
